This year’s BEARS Conference, hosted by the Berkeley EECS department, will be focusing on “Big Data at Berkeley”. This annual event is a program of the Industrial Relations Office at UC Berkeley. Industry leaders are invited to meet UC Berkeley students working on research and projects in the fields of engineering, science, design, computer science, and new media among others. Professors, Claire Tomlin, David Wagner and Michael Jordan from the UC Berkeley EECS department will presenting in the morning while graduate students will be showcasing their research in the afternoon portion of the conference. Kris Fallon, a graduate students pursuing a designated emphasis in New Media from BCNM will be giving a presentation on “Big Data’s Breaking News.”
Later that afternoon, Berkeley Center for New Media will host an open house where students pursuing a Designated Emphasis in New Media will be presenting their research in a poster session format. BCNM artists in residence Futurefarmers, the Social App Lab, and other New Media research groups in the CITRIS facility will also be in attendance.
The event is open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
